Smoothie Seminar at Fortino’s – January 11
I’m really excited to share the news that I will be offering a “cooking class” at the new Fortino’s in Burlington!. Â Â Not really a cooking class… more like a blending class… but the point is, I will be teaching you how to make nutritious, delicious smoothies — and I will even be handing out recipes this time!
Eating the required 5-10 vegetables per day is not easy for most people. Â In fact, according to Statistics Canada, over 56% of adults are not even meeting the minimum requirement! Â It’s not just because vegetables don’t taste as good as junkie alternatives — they are generally harder to prepare, require refrigeration and have to be bought frequently to ensure freshness. Â They just don’t fit into the busy, convenience based lifestyle that Canadians have adapted.
Sadly, though, health problems such as heart disease, obesity, cancer and stroke also don’t fit into a busy lifestyle. Â You have no control over your genetic disposition, but you have every control over what you put into your body. Â A healthy diet is the best way to ensure good digestion, which allows proper nutrient absorption, alkaline pH levels and ultimately a body that disease can’t survive in.
This 2-hour workshop will explain just which vegetables and fruits to choose, how to combine them and give you a great sampling of recipes to get started. It is being held on January 11 at 6:30 pm at Fortinos – 2515 Appleby Line (at Dundas). For only $25 you will learn how to get 2011 started on the right foot and make it your healthiest year. Â To register, email Jane Berry at Fortino’s Community Room – and be sure to come hungry!
